About Me
From the age of 7, I have suffered with severe and chronic migraines. Over the years they have caused me to lose a great deal of schooling and enough time off work to cause concern to both me and my employer. Over the years I have been prescribed a wide range of medication and have tried out a wide number of complementary therapies all with varying degrees of success. Typically, I appeared to get used to the medication I was taking and its effectiveness would tail off.
However, when I was pregnant with my first child I was offered Reflexology through the N.H.S. (a pilot project was being run in my local hospital). I had never considered Reflexology before, having difficulty seeing how massaging my feet could help me. In the event, I was refused the treatment by the hospital as I didn't meet the stringent criteria of the project. Upset at being refused the treatment I went off in search of a Reflexologist for myself.
What a revelation! My first treatment was so relaxing, I decided to have a course of treatment(which my newborn son came along to with me). Following my first course, I continued to have a treatment once a month.
Ten years on, I still have regular treaments. Whilst Reflexology cannot cure my migraines it has significantly reduced the severity and frequency of the attacks. I no longer spend several days in bed and I am able to cope with the symptoms. I rarely lose time away from work and I no longer take lots of painkillers.
Even better, I look forward to a Reflexology treatment as time for me to relax and recharge my batteries.
It was my own experience of Reflexology that lead me to train as a Reflexologist. I have a particular interest in how reflexology can help an individual to deal with stress, something which underpinnes so much illness and disease. We all have stress in our lives but how we are able to deal with that stress determines whether it makes us ill. When it does make us ill we have to seek effective ways of dealing with it to restore our health and well-being. Reflexology is a very useful tool for dealing with stress.
I have a LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN REFLEXOLOGY awarded by a school approved by THE ASSOCIATION OF REFLEXOLOGISTS. (Please see the A.O.R. website for details of training).

Since completing my training I have continued attending workshops and training courses including subjects such as infertility and nutrition and stress.
I have also trained with Susanne Enzer and have a DIPLOMA IN MATERNITY REFLEXOLOGY. This covers preconceptual care; antenatal care; birthing preparation; postnatal care and newborn baby care.
