Fertility and Maternity Reflexology #01

Fertlity and Maternity Reflexology

Fertility

If you are trying for a baby and finding it hard to conceive you may want to consider Reflexology.

Reflexology is never a substitute for medical investigation and treatment where needed. Reflexology is however, a complimentary treatment which has the ability to re - balance all the systems of the body - regulating all the hormones, boosting ovulation and normalising your menstrual cycle, thereby optimising your chances of becoming pregnant.

It may be you suffer from a condition such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or endometriosis, which is making it more difficult for you to conceive. Reflexology may be able to help with these conditions, reducing the symptoms, enhancing the body's own self - healing and most importantly, optimising the function of the hormones in the body.

Stress

The close relationship between the mind and the body is widely acknowledged. If you are stressed through the demands of work, home or the fact that you have not become pregnant when you wanted to be, all these stresses will affect your abilty to conceive.

Reflexology is a deeply calming treatment which allows your mind and body to relax in readiness for conception.

Reflexology and Pregnancy

Research and empiric knowledge suggests that women who receive regular reflexology treatments during their pregnancy have shorter labours with less need for medical intervention. (Ref; Dr. Gowrie Motha.'The Magic of Reflexology' Reflexions. Dec 1994. See also - www.jeyarani.com)

Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy which supports the very natural process of pregnancy and childbirth. Whilst it is sometimes feared that treatments such as reflexology might cause a miscarriage particularly in the eary stages reflexology cannot, does not and will not cause a miscarriage. (Sadly 98% of miscarriages in the first three months are due to chromosonal abnormalities)

Different reflexology techniques are used at different stages of pregnancy appropriate to the stage of the pregnancy. In the middle stages for example, these might be aimed at relieving some of the ailments that can occur such as back pain, rib pain, pelvic girdle syndrome, constipation, swollen feet, difficulty sleeping. In the later stages of pregnancy the focus will be on relaxation and preparation for birth.

Reflexology is always an deeply relaxing treatment which is beneficial to you and your baby and is also excellent preparation for labour.
